Main Settings (Remote Content Source)
To specify whether this content source uses the gateway and to edit
this content source's associated Content Service:
- Under URL Type, specify what happens when users follow
document links:
- By default, this content crawler uses the gateway
to open documents. When users click a link to an associated document,
they are redirected to a URL (generated from the settings in your portal
configuration file) that, in turn, displays the document. This allows
users to view documents they might not otherwise be able to view, either
due to security on the content source repository or firewall
restrictions. If you want your users to be able to view documents even
when they are not connected to your network, you should leave this setting
at its default.
Important: If the associated Content Service supports file
upload (specified on the Advanced Settings page), you must use the gateway
or file uploads will fail.
- If you want instead to direct users to the network
path of the document, choose Does not use the gateway to open
documents. Be warned, however, that with this option, even users
with access to this content source's documents will not be able to open
the documents if they are not connected to your network.
- If this content crawler uses the gateway, you see
the name of the Content Service associated with this content source next
to Web Service. To edit this Content Service, click its name.
- Enter your login
name and password so Publisher can verify your rights and privileges.
